NX UG 4.0 is a powerful CAD/CAM software that is widely used in mold design. This tutorial will guide you through the basic steps of mold design in NX UG 4.0.
Step 1: Creating a New Part
To create a new part, click on the "File" menu and select "New". In the "New Part" dialog box, select the "Mold Design" template and click "OK".
Step 2: Defining the Parting Line
The parting line is the line that divides the mold into two halves. To define the parting line, click on the "Insert" menu and select "Parting Line". In the "Parting Line" dialog box, select the faces that will form the parting line and click "OK".
Step 3: Creating the Core and Cavity

Step 5: Creating the Cooling Channels
Cooling channels are used to circulate coolant through the mold to prevent it from overheating. To create a cooling channel, click on the "Insert" menu and select "Cooling Channel". In the "Cooling Channel" dialog box, select the faces that will form the cooling channel and click "OK".
Step 6: Saving the Part
Once you have completed the mold design, you can save the part by clicking on the "File" menu and selecting "Save".

Use the "Shrinkage" command to account for the shrinkage of the part during cooling.
