Vegetable purees are a great way to get your kids to eat their vegetables. They're also a great way to sneak in extra nutrients and vitamins. And best of all, they're easy to make!
Here are a few tips for making the perfect vegetable puree:
Start with fresh, ripe vegetables.
Wash the vegetables thoroughly.
Peel and chop the vegetables into small pieces.
Cook the vegetables in a saucepan with a little water until they are soft.
Puree the vegetables in a blender or food processor until they are smooth.
You can add flavor to your purees by adding herbs, spices, or cheese. You can also freeze purees for later use.
Here are a few of our favorite vegetable puree recipes:
Carrot Puree
Ingredients:1 pound carrots, peeled and chopped
1/2 cup water
1 tablespoon butter (optional)
Instructions:Combine the carrots and water in a saucepan and bring to a boil.
Reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes, or until the carrots are soft.
Drain the carrots and add them to a blender or food processor.
Puree the carrots until smooth.
Stir in the butter, if desired.
Sweet Potato Puree
Ingredients:1 pound sweet potatoes, peeled and chopped
1/2 cup water
1 tablespoon maple syrup (optional)
Instructions:Combine the sweet potatoes and water in a saucepan and bring to a boil.
Reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes, or until the sweet potatoes are soft.
Drain the sweet potatoes and add them to a blender or food processor.
Puree the sweet potatoes until smooth.

Green Bean Puree
Ingredients:1 pound green beans, trimmed and chopped
1/2 cup water
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions:Combine the green beans, water, olive oil, and salt in a saucepan and bring to a boil.
Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes, or until the green beans are soft.
Drain the green beans and add them to a blender or food processor.
Puree the green beans until smooth.
Broccoli Puree
Ingredients:1 head broccoli, chopped
1/2 cup water
1 tablespoon butter (optional)
Instructions:Combine the broccoli and water in a saucepan and bring to a boil.
Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes, or until the broccoli is soft.
Drain the broccoli and add it to a blender or food processor.
Puree the broccoli until smooth.
Stir in the butter, if desired.
Butternut Squash Puree
Ingredients:1 butternut squash, peeled and chopped
1/2 cup water
1 tablespoon honey (optional)
Instructions:Combine the butternut squash and water in a saucepan and bring to a boil.
Reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes, or until the butternut squash is soft.
Drain the butternut squash and add it to a blender or food processor.
Puree the butternut squash until smooth.
Stir in the honey, if desired.
