Mental health is an integral aspect of overall well-being, affecting a child's academic, social, and emotional development. The elementary school years are a critical period for establishing a solid foundation in mental health literacy and promoting healthy coping mechanisms. In this reflection, we delve into the efficacy of an elementary mental health education intervention, examining its impact on student outcomes and exploring areas for improvement.

The intervention, implemented in a fourth-grade classroom, consisted of a series of age-appropriate lessons that covered topics such as identifying and expressing emotions, developing problem-solving skills, and building resilience. The lessons were delivered in a group setting, allowing students to interact with peers, share experiences, and learn from each other. Pre- and post-intervention assessments were conducted to measure changes in students' mental health knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors.

The results of the assessments indicated positive changes in several key areas. Students demonstrated a significant increase in their ability to identify and label emotions, both in themselves and others. They also showed improvement in their problem-solving abilities, particularly in generating multiple solutions and considering the potential consequences of their choices.
