Procedure:1. Introduction (5 minutes)
Begin by introducing the topic of mental health. Explain that it is just as important as physical health and that it affects how we think, feel, and behave.
Engage students in a discussion about what they already know about mental health, and what they think it means to be mentally healthy.
2. Defining Mental Health (10 minutes)
Guide students in brainstorming factors that contribute to good mental health. Write their ideas on the whiteboard or chart paper. (e.g., positive relationships, healthy eating, sufficient sleep)
Explain that mental health is not simply the absence of mental illness, but a state of overall well-being and fulfillment.
3. Recognizing and Labeling Emotions (15 minutes)
Use an emotion wheel or chart to introduce students to a range of emotions. Explain that it is important to recognize and label our emotions in order to manage them effectively.
