Finally, discuss ways to prevent mental disorders. Explain that there is no surefire way to prevent mental illness, but there are things that can be done to reduce the risk. Encourage students to seek help if they are struggling with mental health issues. Provide them with resources for getting help, such as the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) or the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.6. Conclusion (5 minutes)

Informal assessment: Observe students' participation in the discussion and their ability to identify the signs and symptoms of mental disorders.
Formal assessment: Have students complete a quiz on mental health.
Differentiation:
For struggling students, provide them with more scaffolding during the lesson. For example, you could provide them with a list of key terms or a graphic organizer to help them take notes.
For advanced students, challenge them to research a specific mental disorder and present their findings to the class.
Extension:
Have students interview a mental health professional or someone who has experienced mental illness. Ask them to share what they learned with the class.
