DIY Home-Made Cots: Picture Tutorial385

Are you looking for a simple and affordable way to create a cozy and comfortable sleeping space for your little one? If so, a homemade cot is a great option. With just a few simple materials and a little bit of time, you can create a beautiful and functional cot that will provide your child with years of restful sleep.

Materials You'll Need:
4 pieces of wood (1" x 4" x 8')
2 pieces of wood (1" x 2" x 8')
1 piece of plywood (36" x 72")
Wood screws
Drill
Saw
Measuring tape
Pencil

Instructions:

Step 1: Cut the Wood

Cut the 4 pieces of 1" x 4" wood to a length of 36". These will be the legs of the cot.

Cut the 2 pieces of 1" x 2" wood to a length of 72". These will be the side rails of the cot.

Cut the plywood to a size of 36" x 72". This will be the mattress platform.

Step 2: Assemble the Frame

Place the 4 legs on the corners of the plywood platform. Drill two wood screws through each leg into the platform.

Attach the side rails to the legs using wood screws. Make sure that the side rails are flush with the top of the legs.

Step 3: Finish the Cot

Sand any rough edges on the cot. You can also paint or stain the cot to match your décor.

Add a mattress and bedding to the cot, and your little one will be ready for a good night's sleep.

Tips:
If you don't have a saw, you can get the wood cut to size at your local hardware store.
You can use any type of wood you like for the cot, but pine is a good option because it is affordable and easy to work with.
Be sure to drill pilot holes before driving in the wood screws to prevent the wood from splitting.
You can add a headboard and footboard to the cot if desired.
A homemade cot is a great way to save money and create a unique piece of furniture for your child.
