1 pair of heavy-duty wire cutters
1 pair of pliers
1 hammer or mallet (optional)
1 piece of burlap or landscape fabric (optional)
Soil
Plants

Step 1: Cut the Wire Cloth

Measure and cut a section of wire cloth to the desired size of your planter. The length of the wire cloth will determine the circumference of the planter, and the width will determine the height. For a medium-sized planter, 24 by 12 inches is a good starting size.

Step 2: Form the Sides of the Planter

Fold the wire cloth lengthwise into a U-shape. Overlap the edges and use the pliers to twist them together securely. Continue twisting the wire along the entire length of the fold.

Step 3: Connect the Ends

Bring the two ends of the U-shape together and overlap them slightly. Use the pliers to twist the wires together to form a circle. Make sure to twist the wires tightly to create a secure connection.

Step 4: Create the Base

Cut a piece of wire cloth to form the base of the planter. The base should be approximately the same size as the circle you created in Step 3.

Step 5: Attach the Base

Position the base inside the circle and bend the edges of the wire cloth downward to create a lip. Use the pliers to twist the edges of the lip around the base to secure it to the sides.

Step 6: Reinforce the Structure

If desired, use a hammer or mallet to gently tap down and flatten the wire cloth. This will help to strengthen the structure of the planter and make it more durable.

Step 7: Line the Planter (Optional)

To help retain soil and prevent the roots of your plants from growing through the wire mesh, consider lining the planter with burlap or landscape fabric. Cut the lining to fit the inside of the planter and place it inside.

Step 8: Fill the Planter with Soil

Fill the planter with well-draining soil. The type of soil will depend on the plants you choose to grow.

Step 9: Plant Your Flowers or Plants

Dig holes in the soil and plant your flowers or plants according to their spacing requirements. Water the plants thoroughly after planting.

Step 10: Enjoy Your Woven Wire Basket Planter

Place your woven wire basket planter in a sunny spot in your garden and enjoy the beauty of your blooming flowers or thriving plants. This rustic and charming planter is sure to become a favorite addition to your outdoor space.

Tips:
For a larger planter, simply increase the length of the wire cloth used.
You can paint or stain the planter to match your garden décor.
To prevent rust, apply a clear spray paint or sealant to the planter.
Add decorative elements to your planter, such as twine, ribbons, or small bells.
