DIY Gardening Apron Tutorial: A Step-by-Step Guide53

Gardening is an enjoyable and rewarding activity, but it can also be messy. Soil, fertilizer, and water can easily stain your clothes. A gardening apron is a great way to protect your clothes and keep you clean while you work in the garden. You can purchase a gardening apron at most home and garden stores, but they can be expensive. It is also easy to make your own gardening apron with just a few simple materials.

To make a gardening apron, you will need the following supplies:
1 yard of fabric
1/2 yard of contrasting fabric
1 package of bias tape
1 pair of scissors
1 measuring tape
1 sewing machine

Once you have gathered your supplies, you can follow these steps to make your own gardening apron:
Cut out the fabric. The main body of the apron should measure 24 inches long by 18 inches wide. The pocket should measure 12 inches long by 8 inches wide. Cut two pieces of fabric for the main body of the apron and two pieces of fabric for the pocket.
Sew the pocket. Place the two pieces of fabric for the pocket right sides together and sew around the edges, leaving a small opening for turning. Turn the pocket right side out and press the edges. Topstitch around the edges of the pocket to secure it.
Attach the pocket to the apron. Place the pocket on the front of the apron, 6 inches from the top and centered. Sew the pocket to the apron with a straight stitch.
Create the waist ties. Cut two pieces of bias tape 36 inches long. Fold the bias tape in half lengthwise and press. Open the bias tape and fold the raw edges into the center. Press the bias tape again. Fold the bias tape in half again and press. Topstitch around the edges of the bias tape to secure it.
Attach the waist ties to the apron. Place the waist ties on the apron, 6 inches from the top and 6 inches from the sides. Sew the waist ties to the apron with a straight stitch.
Finish the apron. Fold the raw edges of the apron under and press. Topstitch around the edges of the apron to secure it.

Your gardening apron is now complete! You can now enjoy gardening without worrying about getting your clothes dirty.
