DIY Lazy Susan Turntable for Family Meals336

Introduction

A lazy Susan is a rotating turntable that is often used in restaurants to make it easy for diners to reach all the dishes on the table. However, lazy Susans can also be a great addition to family meals at home. They can make it easy for everyone to share dishes, and they can also be used to create fun and interactive dining experiences.

Materials
1/2-inch thick plywood or MDF
1/4-inch thick plywood or MDF
1-inch wood screws
1-1/2-inch wood screws
Wood glue
Clamps
Drill
Countersink bit
Sander
Paint or stain (optional)

Instructions
Cut two circles out of the 1/2-inch thick plywood or MDF. The first circle should be the desired diameter of your lazy Susan, and the second circle should be slightly smaller (about 1 inch smaller in diameter).

Cut a ring out of the 1/4-inch thick plywood or MDF. The ring should have the same diameter as the second circle.

Apply wood glue to the edge of the second circle and attach the ring to it. Clamp the ring in place and allow the glue to dry.

Place the first circle on top of the ring and align the edges. Drill pilot holes through the first circle and into the ring. Countersink the pilot holes.

Drive 1-inch wood screws through the pilot holes to attach the first circle to the ring.

Flip the lazy Susan over and attach a 1-1/2-inch wood screw to the center of the bottom circle. This screw will be used to mount the lazy Susan to the table.

Sand the lazy Susan smooth and paint or stain it if desired.

Tips
Use a large enough diameter for your lazy Susan so that it can accommodate all of the dishes you want to serve.

Make sure the lazy Susan is level before you attach it to the table.

Use a variety of dishes on your lazy Susan to create a fun and interactive dining experience.

Conclusion

A lazy Susan is a great way to make family meals more enjoyable. It can make it easy for everyone to share dishes, and it can also be used to create fun and interactive dining experiences. With a few simple materials and a little bit of time, you can easily make your own lazy Susan at home.
