Learn Vietnamese Lesson 1 by Ken Sun117
Hello everyone, my name is Ken, and welcome to my Vietnamese language learning blog. In this blog, I will be sharing my knowledge and experience of learning Vietnamese with you. I hope that my posts will be helpful for you on your Vietnamese learning journey.
In this first lesson, we will be learning the basics of Vietnamese pronunciation. Vietnamese is a tonal language, which means that the meaning of a word can change depending on the tone in which it is spoken. There are six tones in Vietnamese, and each tone has its own unique sound. In this lesson, we will learn how to pronounce the six tones of Vietnamese.
The six tones of Vietnamese are:
Ngã (Falling tone): The voice starts high and falls sharply at the end.
Huyền (Mid level tone): The voice stays at a mid level throughout the word.
Sắc (High rising tone): The voice starts low and rises sharply at the end.
Hỏi (Rising tone): The voice starts low and rises gradually at the end.
Ngã (Low rising tone): The voice starts low and rises gradually at the end, then falls sharply at the very end.
Nặng (Heavy tone): The voice starts high, falls slightly, then rises again at the end.
It is important to note that the tones of Vietnamese are not always easy to master. It takes practice to be able to pronounce the tones correctly. However, with enough practice, you will be able to speak Vietnamese with the correct pronunciation.
In addition to learning the tones of Vietnamese, we will also learn some basic Vietnamese vocabulary in this lesson. We will learn how to say hello, goodbye, thank you, and you're welcome in Vietnamese. We will also learn how to introduce ourselves in Vietnamese.
Here are some common Vietnamese phrases that you can use to introduce yourself:
Xin chào (Hello)
Tên tôi là... (My name is...)
Tôi đến từ... (I am from...)
Rất vui được gặp bạn (Nice to meet you)
I encourage you to practice these phrases with a native Vietnamese speaker. This will help you to improve your pronunciation and fluency.
I hope that this lesson has been helpful for you. In the next lesson, we will learn more about Vietnamese grammar. We will also learn how to have a basic conversation in Vietnamese.
Thank you for reading my blog. I hope that you will continue to follow me on my Vietnamese learning journey.
