Arabic Reading Tutorial 2: Magic Pen257

Welcome to the second installment of our Arabic reading tutorial! In this lesson, we will be introducing the "Magic Pen," a technique that will help you to sound out and pronounce Arabic words more accurately. The Magic Pen is a simple but effective tool that can be used by learners of all levels.

To use the Magic Pen, simply draw a small circle above each vowel in the word you are reading. Then, use the following rules to determine how to pronounce the vowel:
A circle above an alif (ا) makes it a long "a" sound, like in the English word "father."
A circle above a waw (و) makes it a long "oo" sound, like in the English word "boot."
A circle above a yaa (ي) makes it a long "ee" sound, like in the English word "sheep."
A circle above a fathah (َ) makes it a short "a" sound, like in the English word "cat."
A circle above a dammah (ُ) makes it a short "u" sound, like in the English word "cup."
A circle above a kasrah (ِ) makes it a short "i" sound, like in the English word "sit."

Here are some examples of how to use the Magic Pen:
The word "كتاب" (book) would be pronounced "kitaab."
The word "مدرسة" (school) would be pronounced "madrasah."
The word "جامعة" (university) would be pronounced "jaami'ah."

The Magic Pen is a great way to improve your pronunciation and fluency in Arabic. By using the Magic Pen, you can be sure that you are pronouncing words correctly and that you are understanding what you are reading.

In addition to the Magic Pen, there are a number of other resources that can help you to learn Arabic. These resources include:
