Grammar:

Modal Verbs


Modal verbs express possibility, necessity, or advice. In Vietnamese, there are several modal verbs, including:- Có thể: Can, may (possibility)
- Phải: Must, have to (necessity)
- Nên: Should, ought to (advice)

Modal verbs are placed before the main verb in a sentence.

Interrogative Words


Interrogative words are used to ask questions. Here are some common interrogative words in Vietnamese:- Ai: Who?
- Cái gì: What?
- Khi nào: When?
- Ở đâu: Where?
- Tại sao: Why?

Interrogative words are placed at the beginning of a question sentence.

Relative Clauses


Relative clauses are used to add more information about a noun or pronoun in a sentence. In Vietnamese, relative clauses are introduced by the following words:- Mà: Which, that
- Của: Whose

Relative clauses follow the noun or pronoun they are referring to.

- Văn phòng: Office
- Ngân hàng: Bank

Transportation


- Tàu hỏa: Train
- Máy bay: Plane
- Xe buýt: Bus

Activities


- Đi mua sắm: Go shopping
- Đi du lịch: Go on vacation
- Xem phim: Watch a movie
- Ăn tối: Have dinner
- Ngủ: Sleep

Example Sentences:

Using Modal Verbs:- Có thể cho tôi một vé tàu đi Hà Nội được không? (Can I have a train ticket to Hanoi?)
- Bạn phải hoàn thành bài tập về nhà trước khi đi chơi. (You must finish your homework before going out.)
- Nên mang theo áo mưa khi ra ngoài vì trời có thể mưa. (You should bring a raincoat when you go out because it might rain.)

Using Interrogative Words:- Ai là người gọi điện thoại cho bạn? (Who called you?)
- Cái gì làm bạn vui vẻ? (What makes you happy?)
- Khi nào bạn đến Việt Nam? (When are you coming to Vietnam?)
- Ở đâu có thể tìm thấy món phở ngon nhất? (Where can I find the best pho?)
- Tại sao bạn lại thích học tiếng Việt? (Why do you like learning Vietnamese?)

Using Relative Clauses:- Tôi thích người mà tôi gặp ngày hôm qua. (I like the person who I met yesterday.)
- Xe ô tô của tôi bị hỏng, nên tôi phải đi bộ. (My car is broken, so I have to walk.)
