Giant Planter Box DIY74

This giant planter box is the perfect addition to any backyard or patio. It's large enough to grow a variety of plants, and the design is simple and elegant. Best of all, it's relatively easy to build, even for beginners.

Materials
2x4 lumber (4) 8-foot lengths
2x8 lumber (4) 8-foot lengths
1x4 lumber (4) 8-foot lengths
1x12 lumber (2) 8-foot lengths
3-inch deck screws
2-inch deck screws
Wood glue
Drill
Circular saw
Clamps
Level
Measuring tape
Pencil

Instructions

1. Cut the 2x4s and 2x8s to length according to the diagram below.

2. Assemble the frame of the planter box by screwing the 2x4s and 2x8s together with 3-inch deck screws. Make sure to use wood glue at all joints for added strength.

3. Attach the 1x12s to the inside of the frame with 2-inch deck screws. These boards will form the bottom of the planter box.

4. Attach the 1x4s to the outside of the frame with 2-inch deck screws. These boards will form the sides of the planter box.

5. Level the planter box and make sure it is square. Adjust the screws as needed.

6. Fill the planter box with soil and plants. Water the plants well and enjoy your new addition to your backyard or patio!

Tips
If you don't have a circular saw, you can have the lumber cut to size at your local home improvement store.
Be sure to wear safety glasses when using power tools.
If you want to stain or paint the planter box, do so before assembling it.
To prevent the wood from rotting, apply a sealant to the inside and outside of the planter box.
You can add a drainage hole to the bottom of the planter box by drilling a 1-inch hole in the center of the bottom.
