Written Instructions:

Step 1: Cast On

Using your knitting needles, cast on 30 stitches using the long tail cast-on method.

Step 2: Knit Ribbing

Knit the next 10 rows in a 1x1 rib stitch pattern (knit 1 stitch, purl 1 stitch).

Step 3: Divide Stitches

Divide the stitches onto three needles as follows: 10 stitches on the first needle, 10 stitches on the second needle, and 10 stitches on the third needle.

Step 4: Knit the Heel

Using the first needle, knit 10 stitches. Slip the next 10 stitches from the second needle onto the first needle. Knit 10 stitches from the third needle. Slip the last 10 stitches from the second needle onto the third needle. You should now have 30 stitches on the first needle.

Knit the next 10 rows on the first needle, turning your work at the end of each row.

Step 5: Shape the Heel

Knit 5 stitches. Slide the next stitch from the left-hand needle onto the right-hand needle without knitting it. Knit the next 4 stitches. Slide the next stitch from the left-hand needle onto the right-hand needle without knitting it. Knit the next 4 stitches. Slide the next stitch from the left-hand needle onto the right-hand needle without knitting it. Knit the remaining 4 stitches.

Knit the next row in reverse, starting with the last stitch on the right-hand needle.

Repeat these two rows until you have 10 stitches remaining.

Step 6: Form the Heel Flap

Knit the next 10 rows on the 10 remaining stitches.

Step 7: Join the Heel and the Instep

Using a yarn needle, sew the left edge of the heel flap to the right edge of the instep stitches. Ensure that the right sides of the fabric are facing each other.

Step 8: Knit the Foot

Using the needles with the instep stitches, knit the next 30 rows in stockinette stitch (knit all rows).

Step 9: Shape the Toe

Knit 5 stitches. Slide the next stitch from the left-hand needle onto the right-hand needle without knitting it. Knit the next 2 stitches. Pass the slipped stitch over the two knitted stitches. Knit the next 3 stitches. Slide the next stitch from the left-hand needle onto the right-hand needle without knitting it. Knit the last 2 stitches. Pass the slipped stitch over the two knitted stitches.

Knit the next row in reverse, starting with the last stitch on the right-hand needle.

Repeat these two rows until you have 10 stitches remaining.

Step 10: Bind Off

Thread the yarn onto a yarn needle and knot the end. Using the yarn needle, pass through the first two stitches on the left-hand needle. Draw the yarn through to tighten and remove the stitches from the needle. Pass the yarn through the first two stitches on the right-hand needle. Draw the yarn through to tighten and remove the stitches from the needle. Repeat until all stitches are bound off and a small opening remains at the toe.

Step 11: Weave in Loose Ends

Use a yarn needle to weave in any loose ends of yarn.
