How to Replace the Battery on Your 4S Phone136

Replacing the battery on your 4S phone is a relatively simple procedure that can be completed in about 30 minutes. Here are the steps you need to follow:

Tools and Materials* New battery
* Phillips #000 screwdriver
* Tweezers
* Suction cup
* Pry tool

Safety Precautions* Before you begin, make sure your phone is turned off.
* Do not attempt to replace the battery if you are not comfortable working with electronics.
* Wear safety glasses to protect your eyes from flying debris.

Instructions1. Use a suction cup to lift the screen. Place the suction cup on the bottom of the screen, near the Home button. Gently pull up on the suction cup to create a slight gap between the screen and the frame.
2. Insert a pry tool into the gap. Once you have a small gap, insert the pry tool into the gap and gently pry the screen away from the frame. Work your way around the perimeter of the screen, prying it loose from the frame.
3. Disconnect the battery connector. Use the tweezers to disconnect the battery connector from the logic board. The battery connector is a small, black connector located on the bottom of the logic board.
4. Remove the battery. Once the battery connector is disconnected, you can remove the battery from the phone. Gently lift the battery out of the phone, being careful not to damage the battery or the logic board.
5. Install the new battery. Align the new battery with the battery connector on the logic board. Gently press the battery into place until it clicks into place.
6. Reconnect the battery connector. Use the tweezers to reconnect the battery connector to the logic board.
7. Reattach the screen. Align the screen with the frame and gently press it into place. Work your way around the perimeter of the screen, pressing it firmly into place.
8. Tighten the screws. Use the Phillips #000 screwdriver to tighten the screws that secure the screen to the frame.
9. Turn on your phone. Once the phone is reassembled, turn it on to make sure it is working properly.

Tips* If you are having trouble prying the screen loose from the frame, you can use a hair dryer to heat the adhesive around the edges of the screen. This will make the adhesive easier to soften and remove.
* Be careful not to overtighten the screws that secure the screen to the frame. Overtightening the screws can damage the screen.
* If you are not comfortable replacing the battery yourself, you can take your phone to a repair shop and have them do it for you.
