How to Replace the Screen on an iPhone 4346


Tools and Materials:
New iPhone 4 screen
Tri-point screwdriver
Phillips #000 screwdriver
Spudger
Suction cup
iSesamo opening tool or a plastic card
Isopropyl alcohol
Microfiber cloth
Heat gun or hair dryer (optional)

Instructions:

Step 1: Power Down and Remove the SIM Card

Before starting any repairs, always power down your iPhone. Next, use the SIM ejector tool or a paper clip to remove the SIM card tray.

Step 2: Remove the Two Pentalobe Screws

Use the tri-point screwdriver to remove the two 3.6 mm pentalobe screws located at the bottom of the phone, next to the dock connector.

Step 3: Loosen the Suction Cup

Apply a suction cup to the lower front of the screen, just above the Home button. Gently pull up on the suction cup to create a small gap between the screen and the frame.

Step 4: Insert the iSesamo Tool

Insert the iSesamo opening tool or a plastic card into the gap created by the suction cup. Slide the tool around the edge of the screen to loosen the adhesive.

Step 5: Heat the Screen

Using a heat gun or hair dryer, heat the edges of the screen for a few seconds. This will soften the adhesive and make it easier to remove.

Step 6: Remove the Screen

Continue sliding the iSesamo tool around the edges of the screen until it is completely detached from the frame.

Step 7: Disconnect the Battery Connector

Use the Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the two 1.6 mm Phillips screws securing the battery connector. Disconnect the battery by gently prying up the connector.

Step 8: Disconnect the Screen Connector

Use the spudger to disconnect the screen connector by gently prying it up.

Step 9: Remove the Front Panel Assembly

Remove the three 1.2 mm Phillips screws securing the front panel assembly. Carefully lift the assembly up and out of the phone.

Step 10: Transfer Components to the New Screen

Transfer the earpiece speaker, front-facing camera, and Home button from the old screen to the new screen.

Step 11: Align and Seat the New Screen

Align the new screen with the frame and gently press around the edges to seat it. Make sure all the connectors are aligned correctly.

Step 12: Reconnect the Battery

Connect the battery by gently pressing down on the connector.

Step 13: Reconnect the Screen

Connect the screen by gently pressing down on the connector.

Step 14: Replace the Front Panel Assembly

Replace the front panel assembly by aligning it with the frame and gently pressing down.

Step 15: Tighten the Screws

Tighten the three 1.2 mm Phillips screws securing the front panel assembly.

Step 16: Reconnect and Tighten the Battery Connector

Reconnect the battery by gently pressing down on the connector. Tighten the two 1.6 mm Phillips screws securing the battery connector.

Step 17: Reinstall the Two Pentalobe Screws

Use the tri-point screwdriver to reinstall the two 3.6 mm pentalobe screws at the bottom of the phone.

Step 18: Clean the Screen

Clean the screen with a microfiber cloth moistened with isopropyl alcohol. This will remove any smudges or fingerprints.

Step 19: Power On

Power on your iPhone and test the new screen to ensure it is working properly.
