How to Replace a Polarized Phone Screen: A Comprehensive Guide276
Is your phone's screen looking a little worse for wear? It may be time to replace the polarized film, which is a thin layer of plastic that helps to improve the screen's visibility and reduce glare. Here's how to do it yourself in just a few simple steps.
Materials You'll Need- New polarized film
- Screwdriver set
- Tweezers
- Plastic pry tool
- Soft cloth
- Isopropyl alcohol (optional)
Steps
1. Power Down Your Phone
Before you begin, power down your phone to prevent any accidental damage.
2. Remove the Back Cover
Use the screwdriver to remove the screws holding the back cover in place. Once the screws are removed, carefully pry open the back cover using the plastic pry tool. Be careful not to damage any of the internal components.
3. Disconnect the Battery
Once the back cover is removed, locate the battery connector and carefully disconnect it using the tweezers. You may also want to remove the SIM card and SD card at this time.
4. Remove the Display Assembly
Use the screwdriver to remove the screws holding the display assembly in place. Once the screws are removed, carefully lift the display assembly away from the phone. Be careful not to damage any of the cables.
5. Remove the Old Polarized Film
Use the tweezers to carefully peel off the old polarized film from the display assembly. Be careful not to tear the film or damage the display. If there is any adhesive residue left on the display, you can use a soft cloth dampened with isopropyl alcohol to remove it.
6. Apply the New Polarized Film
Carefully peel off the backing from the new polarized film and align it with the display. Once the film is aligned, press down on it to secure it in place. Be sure to remove any air bubbles that may have formed.
7. Reassemble the Phone
Once the new polarized film is in place, reassemble the phone in the reverse order of the steps above. Be sure to connect the battery and other components before powering on the phone.
Tips- If you are not comfortable performing this repair yourself, you can take your phone to a repair shop and have them do it for you.
- Be careful not to damage the display when removing the old polarized film or applying the new film.
- If you are having trouble removing the old polarized film, you can try using a heat gun to soften the adhesive.
