How to Make Homemade Pulled Pork264
Pulled pork is a delicious and versatile dish that can be enjoyed in a variety of ways. It's perfect for sandwiches, tacos, salads, and more. Plus, it's relatively easy to make, especially if you have a slow cooker. In this post, I'll share my recipe for homemade pulled pork, along with step-by-step instructions and a video tutorial.
Ingredients:* 1 (4 to 5 pound) pork shoulder (bone-in or boneless)
* 1/4 cup brown sugar
* 1/4 cup yellow mustard
* 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
* 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
* 1 teaspoon garlic powder
* 1 teaspoon onion powder
* 1 teaspoon salt
* 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
For the BBQ sauce:* 1 cup ketchup
* 1/2 cup brown sugar
* 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
* 1/4 cup water
* 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
* 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
* 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
* 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
* 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions:1. Prepare the pork shoulder. Remove the pork shoulder from the refrigerator and let it come to room temperature for about 30 minutes. This will help it cook more evenly.
2. Make the rub. In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, yellow mustard, Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
3. Rub the pork shoulder. Generously rub the pork shoulder all over with the prepared rub.
4. Place the pork shoulder in the slow cooker. Place the pork shoulder in a slow cooker.
5. Cook the pork shoulder. Cook the pork shoulder on low for 6-8 hours, or until it is fall-off-the-bone tender.
6. Make the BBQ sauce. While the pork shoulder is cooking, make the BBQ sauce. In a medium saucepan, combine the ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, water, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 15 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.
7. Shred the pork shoulder. Once the pork shoulder is cooked, remove it from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks.
8. Toss the pork shoulder with the BBQ sauce. Place the shredded pork shoulder in a large bowl and toss it with the BBQ sauce.
9. Serve. Serve the pulled pork immediately on sandwiches, tacos, salads, or your favorite side dishes.
Tips:* For a smoky flavor, add 1-2 tablespoons of liquid smoke to the BBQ sauce.
* You can also cook the pulled pork in the oven. Preheat the oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit and cook the pork shoulder for 4-5 hours, or until it is fall-off-the-bone tender.
* Leftover pulled pork can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
I hope you enjoy this recipe for homemade pulled pork! It's a delicious and versatile dish that's perfect for any occasion.
