How to Install the Sybase Database57


Sybase is a relational database management system (RDBMS) that has been widely used for over 30 years. It is known for its scalability, reliability, and performance. Sybase is used by a variety of organizations, including financial institutions, government agencies, and healthcare providers.

In this tutorial, we will walk you through the steps on how to install Sybase on a Windows server. We will be using Sybase ASE 16.0 for this tutorial.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, you will need the following:* A Windows server with at least 2 GB of RAM and 10 GB of free disk space.
* A copy of the Sybase ASE 16.0 installation media.
* A user account with administrator privileges.

Steps
Insert the Sybase ASE 16.0 installation media into the server's DVD drive.
The Sybase Setup Wizard will automatically launch. If it does not, browse to the DVD drive and double-click on the file.
On the Welcome page, click Next.
On the License Agreement page, read the license agreement and select I accept the terms in the license agreement. Click Next.
On the Installation Type page, select Custom. Click Next.
On the Feature Selection page, select the features that you want to install. The following features are required:
Database Server
Database Utilities
Adaptive Server Anywhere

You can also select additional features, such as:
Sybase Central
PowerBuilder
Replication Server

Click Next.
On the Installation Directory page, specify the directory where you want to install Sybase. The default directory is C:Sybase. Click Next.
On the Database Server Configuration page, specify the following information:
Server Name: The name of the Sybase server. The default name is SYBASE.
Port Number: The port number that the Sybase server will listen on. The default port number is 5000.
Domain: The domain that the Sybase server will be a part of. The default domain is master.
Administrator Password: The password for the Sybase administrator account. The default password is sa.

Click Next.
On the Adaptive Server Anywhere Configuration page, specify the following information:
ASA Server Name: The name of the ASA server. The default name is ASA.
Port Number: The port number that the ASA server will listen on. The default port number is 6262.
Domain: The domain that the ASA server will be a part of. The default domain is master.
Administrator Password: The password for the ASA administrator account. The default password is sa.

Click Next.
On the Ready to Install page, review the installation settings. If everything is correct, click Install.
The installation process will begin. This may take some time.
Once the installation is complete, click Finish.

Post-Installation Steps

Once Sybase is installed, you will need to perform the following post-installation steps:
Create a new database.
Create a new user account.
Grant the new user account permissions to the new database.
Test the new database.
