Surface mount technology (SMT) has become the dominant method for assembling electronic circuits. SMT components are smaller and lighter than traditional through-hole components, and they can be assembled more quickly and efficiently. Panasonic is a leading manufacturer of SMT equipment, including pick-and-place machines and solder paste printers.
This tutorial will provide a basic overview of Panasonic SMT programming. We will cover the following topics:

Creating a New Program
To create a new program, open the Panasonic SMT programming software. Click on the "File" menu and select "New". A new program window will open.
The program window is divided into four main sections:
The menu bar
The tool bar
The work area
The status bar
Importing a CAD File
The first step is to import the CAD file for the PCB. To do this, click on the "File" menu and select "Import". A file browser window will open. Navigate to the CAD file and click on the "Open" button.
The CAD file will be imported into the work area. The work area is a graphical representation of the PCB. The components are represented by rectangles. The solder paste is represented by green circles.
Setting Up the Machine Parameters
The next step is to set up the machine parameters. The machine parameters include the following:
The type of pick-and-place machine
The nozzle size
The placement speed
The solder paste volume
To set up the machine parameters, click on the "Machine" menu and select "Parameters". A machine parameters window will open. Enter the appropriate values for the machine parameters.
Generating a Pick-and-Place Program
Once the machine parameters have been set up, you can generate a pick-and-place program. To do this, click on the "Program" menu and select "Generate". A program generation window will open.
The program generation window contains a number of options. You can select the components to be placed, the placement sequence, and the placement speed. You can also specify the solder paste volume.
Once you have selected the appropriate options, click on the "Generate" button. The program generation process will begin. Once the program generation process is complete, the pick-and-place program will be displayed in the work area.
Saving the Program
Once you have generated the pick-and-place program, you can save it. To do this, click on the "File" menu and select "Save". A file browser window will open. Navigate to the folder where you want to save the program and click on the "Save" button.
The pick-and-place program will be saved to the specified folder. You can now use the program to place components on the PCB.
