Click and drag on the artboard to create a rectangle. Hold down the "Shift" key to create a perfect square. With the square selected, click on the "Effect" menu and select "Stylize." In the "Stylize" menu, select "Round Corners." In the "Round Corners" dialog box, enter a value for the "Radius" of the rounded corners. Click on the "OK" button to round the corners of the square.
