How to Make Apple Lightning Cables From Ethernet Wire294
Ethernet cables are often used to connect computers to the internet or to each other. However, they can also be used to make Apple Lightning cables. This can be a great way to save money or to get a longer cable than you would be able to find in stores.
To make an Apple Lightning cable from Ethernet wire, you will need the following:- Ethernet cable
- Lightning connector
- USB connector
- Soldering iron
- Solder
- Wire strippers
- Heat shrink tubing
Once you have gathered all of your materials, you can follow these steps to make your own Apple Lightning cable:1. Strip the ends of the Ethernet cable. Using your wire strippers, strip about 1 inch of insulation from each end of the Ethernet cable.
2. Identify the wires inside the Ethernet cable. There will be eight wires inside the Ethernet cable. The colors of the wires will vary depending on the type of Ethernet cable you are using. However, the two wires that you need to focus on are the orange and white (or orange) wire and the green and white (or green) wire. These are the wires that carry the data signal.
3. Cut the orange and white (or orange) wire and the green and white (or green) wire from the Ethernet cable. You will only need these two wires to make your Lightning cable.
4. Strip the ends of the orange and white (or orange) wire and the green and white (or green) wire. Using your wire strippers, strip about 1/2 inch of insulation from each end of the orange and white (or orange) wire and the green and white (or green) wire.
5. Tin the ends of the orange and white (or orange) wire and the green and white (or green) wire. Tinning the wires will make them easier to solder. To tin a wire, simply hold the end of the wire in a flame until the solder melts and flows onto the wire.
6. Solder the orange and white (or orange) wire to the center pin of the Lightning connector. The center pin is the small, round pin in the center of the Lightning connector.
7. Solder the green and white (or green) wire to the ground pin of the Lightning connector. The ground pin is the larger, flat pin on the side of the Lightning connector.
8. Slide the heat shrink tubing over the soldered connections. The heat shrink tubing will help to protect the soldered connections from damage.
9. Heat the heat shrink tubing with a lighter or heat gun. The heat shrink tubing will shrink down and form a tight seal around the soldered connections.
10. Repeat steps 5-9 to solder the other end of the Lightning cable to the USB connector.
11. Your Apple Lightning cable is now complete!
You can now use your Lightning cable to charge your Apple devices or to connect them to your computer. Here are some additional tips for making your own Apple Lightning cable:
- Use a high-quality Ethernet cable. This will help to ensure that your cable is durable and will last a long time.
- Be careful not to overheat the wires when you are soldering them. If the wires overheat, they can become damaged and your cable will not work.
- Use heat shrink tubing to protect the soldered connections. This will help to prevent the connections from coming loose or being damaged.
- Test your cable before you use it. To test your cable, simply plug it into your Apple device and see if it charges or syncs.
